Eric,

svnsync is certainly one good way of creating and maintaing a backup of your Subversion repository hosted with Unfuddle. Alternatively, you can use the automated backup features of Unfuddle (available from the Project Settings tab) that will allow you to schedule regular backups that can even be automatically sent to an Amazon S3 account of your choosing.

Greg,

Please see the free "Subversion book":http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.5/svn.reposadmin.maint.html#svn.reposadmin.maint.replication for detailed information on how to setup a repository for svnsync.

If you ever do need to restore a repository from a local backup, you will need to either email us a dump of your local repository or make it available online for us to download. Then simply let us know your account subdomain and the name of the repository which should be replaced or appended to by the contents of the dump.

You should also note that you can obtain complete dumps of any of your Unfuddle repositories by requesting and downloading a backup of the project with which they are associated.

A couple of questions:
- Can anyone provide an example script to perform the backup operation using svnsync?
- One of our main reasons for backing up is to provide an alternative source for our data in case Unfuddle goes down. What are the steps for us to restore our repos on a new server based on the backups we're saving using svnsync?

Thanks,

I'm trying out the free account and am considering a paid account. My team is all new to SVN but we are excited about the possibilities. With unfuddle, is SVNsync the best choice for backing up an unfuddle repository. If I use SVNsync will I get all revisions backed up.

Thanks
