I am angry.

Having recently tripped over a related issue regarding deleted users (http://unfuddle.com/community/forums/3/topics/887), earlier this week I decided to clean up the version list for our Project, reducing it from 37 build numbers down to the three relevant version numbers we are now using. I only realized today that version numbers removed from Settings are removed from all tickets! We no longer have that history for the version in which 1,000+ bugs were found.

• The behavior of Unfuddle is inconsistent. Deleting a user from the Project does not reset the Assignee to none, but deleting the version number does? Yuck²!
  
• If you intend your software to behave as such, since deleting version numbers irreversibly changes all tickets, it would be user friendly to have a popup warning of irreversibility [kinda like the way it works when user deletes a ticket].
  
  This was a great loss of data points to our company, and I am disgusted to see how easy it was to “fuddle up” our Project.

I am sorry to hear that you have been surprised by this. We want to make the interface as clear as possible and this is indeed not typical of the Unfuddle experience. We can certainly consider your suggestions to prevent others from being surprised like this.

That being said, you are literally the only person who has indicated that this was a problem. Please email us at support with your account subdomain and information about the version(s) and we will see what we can do to restore the lost version information for you.

I don’t think this would be a surprise to some; but this specific use case makes the results seem contradictory and surprising. Again, removing a user does not reset old tickets, but removing a version number does reset all tickets with that version number. I expected [and still do expect] similar behavior/results from both operations.

I will follow up with support to see if those version numbers can be restored. Thanks for the suggestion.
