We recently lost a dev to a different company. As an Unfuddle Admin, I deleted this person from all Projects with which he was associated. Unfortunately, all tickets that were assigned to him remain assigned to him, and there is no easy way to group edit these tickets to assign them to another dev: the deleted user no longer shows up on the Assignee list.

So, it looks as if I must recreate this deleted user, then reassign tickets for this user, then delete the once-deleted user. Does that summarize the workaround? Yuck. Yes, going forward, I'll know to change Assignees before deleting a user, but that does not currently help.

If a user is deleted, I would think tickets should reset automatically to "none" wherever relevant. As it stands now, though, these tickets have fallen off everyone's radar, since they are assigned to someone who no longer exists in the company or Unfuddle.

Jim,

You are correct that data authored by or associated with the deleted user is still attributed to the user. This is typically useful when considering the history of a particular ticket, commit, etc. Unfortunately, your suggested approach to fix this will not work. The new user will not be associated in any way with the deleted user.

That being said, we may need to consider modifying this behavior in the future where is makes sense. In the meantime, you should be able to simply group a ticket report of all tickets by assignee. This would allow you to easily select all tickets currently assigned to the deleted user then reassign them in bulk using the "Update selected tickets" drop-down menu at the top of the report.
